Intertribal Powwow

Intertribal Powwow

On July 13, we went to the 9th annual Intertribal Powwow at Mt. Kearsarge in Warner, NH. We’ve been there before for other events, but never made it to a Powwow until this year. One of the flags that had been flying at the World Trade Center on 9/11 was there—the traveling flag that so far has seen over 12,000 miles of special events. The flag was carried into the dance circle as part of the Grand Entry, and after the first few sacred dances they invited all veterans into the circle to help unfold the flag and hold it for a sacred “Veterans’ Song”. I had no idea the flag was going to be part of the Powwow… very moving.

Photography was disallowed until after the sacred songs and dances, and then the all-clear was given for taking photos, so I was able to get these fun and colorful shots of the Intertribal Dancing.

More brilliance

Here are Mom and Dad’s photos to add to mine — our travels from Co. Meath — to Northern Ireland — to Co. Donegal — to Co. Mayo (finishing in Co. Clare with the photos from my collection). It was only one month ago, yet already feels like one year.

Also, in the previous entry, I neglected to include the link for those who want to help save Tara by signing the petition.
